A true Muslim

... the only significant lunch at teta is when all of us in the family found her on the floor choking, and then, I thought I was witnessing her take her last dying breaths, I saw her face turn red, helpless on the floor, as she slowly raised her hands trying to recite Quraan. That is the day I realized how much I loved my grandmother. I FELT my heart tear apart. That is an incident that changed my view of Teta - I can't explain it in words - but instead of trying to breathe, she was trying to recite Quraan while everyone around her was screaming, and losing their mind in fear that she will no longer be with us.

The above quote has touched my heart of knowing that Color of ColoRama journal/blog wrote about her beloved grandmother been thinking of God (Allah) not saving her life, thinking to meet God with by recite his own holy words from Quraan, to meet her next life with veil of Quraan, and her strong faith in God.

Her grandmother is a true Muslim and mummeenah (a believer in God), didn't fear death but was willing to embracing it, and loves God more then her life.

Very few people are ready to embrace death with open heart.

I'm proud of knowing her grandmother and I'm proud that Color admires her and proud for been her granddaughter, also writing about it.

Clean up day

Monday, was a day for me to clear up my inbox (email) from all the junk mails & forwarding from friends and co-workers.

I managed to delete nearly 1000 mails, which weren't relevant to work and some of them I sent it to my personal email in order to post it at my beloved journal to share it with you.

At some point I wanted to keep some of the religious mails but I felt its been there for over a year and I won't read it.

I attended an advanced related course from Tuesday to Thursday, which was good for me, had brainstorm of some ideas related to work.

Friday, as a day I went to have lunch at my Auntie's place and had a good time with my cousins, I joined them later in the evening for coffee at the The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Al Bahja mall, the first outlet in Oman.

Most of the people used to go to Al Bahja mall because of the movie cinema and kids play section, but since last year when Costa Coffee opened it's outlet, more people started going. Now many people are expected to go, they need more proper restaurants, i mean beside fast food franchises.

After coming back from the mall, the movie 'Freedom Writers' on DVD. It's a good movie, which inspired me too, they fought their battle and changed their lives by writing and how a teacher helped them to get it over with it and supporting them to reach their dreams.

Their dreams became reality via 'The Freedom Writers Diary: How a Teacher and 150 Teens Used Writing to Change Themselves and the World Around Them' , and I will go and look for the book if it's available in the local bookstore or in the neighborhood country or I'll order it online.

The movie has inspired me to read and write. I'm trying to write more positive way.

Few months ago, I came across wonderful online journal known as Hegab Rehab, which the author mostly post about the styles of Hegabs /Hejabs and accessories for Muslims women wear it and known part of Muslim woman dress code. Another journal 'Chasing Jannah', which is written by a Muslim woman.

The Omani community has been promised for the past few months that one of the most popular fast food franchise, known as Burger King will be back to operate in Oman. Up to now, the reserved space is empty and no signs of it's going to exists. Read more about it here were trying to figure out why it was closed at the first place.

The shock of my life

While I was surfing the net, I visited Hot Google Trends blog/journal and came across a post dated Thursday, December 27, 2007 and so called ‘Benazir Bhutto, The Assassination video’, I was so shocked when I saw the title, as I realised how much I’m cut of the world as I don’t read or listen to the local nor the world news.

How can we live this way? We have all the technology to make our lives easy that we don’t give our selves the time to do anything.

About Benazir’s death, it’s so sad that her life has ended like that God bless her soul.

Are you money conscious?

I've been wanting to post this topic since 26 Feb. 2005 based on Lil pink submarine: Miser or money conscious? post, read here below post:
This was an initial shock to me since I never considered money to be an issue. I don’t really care who pays for bills or if I end up paying more than someone else’s share of a bill.

We were at a lil chocolate Shoppe’ where we were selecting items to munch on later. I picked a few things and my friend picked other thing, but when we came to the cash register we both placed our items together. As the women on the counter started adding my friends’ items first she quickly separated her items from mine and made sure that none of my items were added onto her bill. I was shocked, since I would have gladly paid for the simple items together.

I then realized something that there are others that are very stringent with their money and can calculate shares to the biaza (cent), which never crossed my mind since I never considered money as an issue.

To me money is there to be used be it for oneself or with others, it’s a non lasting ‘value’ that does not matter or should not be a divide among people.

Seeds of thought

A person must value his money from the start (LOOK WHOSE TALKING!!) to enable to save when the money is needed more like in buying a house, car, someting valuable.

Generally people spend this money unessary without thinking about the future, people who haven't got the sense of money tend to not over look the future. The current/present circumstances is not the same at the future.

Law & Music: Designs

I'd like to thank "Blue Chi" for posting an article 'Law & Music: Designs' about copyrights related to designs.

Here is the complete article.

Design law involves the protection of the physical look of an article/object/product. This law is in practice very complex, but due to the recent changes in the EU, and the fact that the IP course only involves the current regimes the complexity of the various issues involved cannot be extensively described as there are not many cases on the topic. There are four regimes for the protection of designs in the UK.

1 - Copyright: protects engravings, sculptures, and works of artistic craftsman. Govenmed by the usual CDPA measures but two main limitations make it less useful in this field. Those are sections 51 and 52. Section 51 grants a defence to copy the final product driven from the copyrighten work as long as the final product is not an artistic work or a typeface. Section 52 makes the protection period for limited to 25 years only for anything that passes s51.

2- Unregistered Design Rights (UK): Straight forward requirements: Article, Originality (different from ©, the thing has to be different from the common articles around - not that the person made it by himself), must be recorded, and it must not fall within the exclusions (fomulae, 'must-match', 'must-fit', and decorations). The right granted is an anti-copying right > This means that it must be showed that the infringer actually COPIED from you, not only that both designs look similar. The protection period is complex, it is actually 10 years that could start after a maximum of 5 years from the making of the design, but it cannot exceed 15. So if used after 7 years, the protection would last for 8 years only. (Governed by the CDPA.)

3- Registered Designs Right (UK + EU): This is governed by the Registered Designs Act 1988. This clearly protects the "APPEARANCE" of the design in question. Unlike the unregistered right, the aspect to be protected has to be visible during the use of the product. The requirements are is that it must be novel, has an individual character and must not fall within the exclusions: Must not be a component of a complex product that is not visit (this is the spare parts thing!), the designs shape must not be soley dictated by its technical functions, and there is a similar 'must fit' exclusion as well. The protection granted is of a monopoly right, a person would infringe by making a similar product even if he did not actually copy. The protection duration could last up to 25 years.

4- Unregistered Design Right (EU): Similar requirements to the Registered Right, but does not require actual registration and is an anti-copyright right. The duration of the protection is 3 years only. (Practical for fashion based industries)
